Nominations are being sought for two universitywide awards honoring employees and employee committees that have gone above and beyond to create a positive culture of well-being.
People may submit nominations through Sept. 18 for the Dr. Robert A. Winfield MHealthy Champion Award and the LaVaughn Palma-Davis Wellness Committee Award.

The awards recognize those that help support well-being in their units and departments and foster connection among their co-workers.
More than 500 staff and faculty members across the university and Michigan Medicine currently volunteer as MHealthy Champions. Hundreds of employees also serve on Wellness Committees. Both help identify coworkers’ interests and find programs and resources that best fit their well-being needs.
Nomination procedures and information for both awards are available online and require a U-M uniqname and password for access.
The Dr. Robert A. Winfield MHealthy Champion Award was created in memory of MHealthy’s initial chief health officer and adviser. It recognizes MHealthy Champions who:
- Have a strong commitment to building a culture of well-being.
- Make a positive difference in their department or work unit.
- Demonstrate commitment to their Champion role.
- Model inclusivity and diversity in their work and outreach within their department or work unit.
- Have served at least one full term (two years) as an MHealthy Champion.
The winning Champion will receive a monetary gift card.
The LaVaughn Palma-Davis Wellness Committee Award was created in honor of MHealthy’s first senior director. It recognizes Wellness Committees that:
- Are positively affecting the culture of well-being in their department, building or area.
- Model inclusivity and diversity in the committee’s make-up and in the areas of outreach to their departments and units.
- Are led by an MHealthy Champion and have been active for at least one year.
The winning committee will receive a shared trophy and each member will receive a monetary gift card.
