Road work to affect traffic near campus this spring and summer

A series of road construction projects affecting traffic on or near the Ann Arbor campuses are scheduled to begin May 6 and run through the summer and possibly into the fall.

By zeroing in on humans’ gait, body symmetry and foot placement, University of Michigan researchers are teaching self-driving cars to recognize and predict pedestrian movements with greater precision than current technologies.

Student Move-In to bring traffic, parking changes Aug. 29-31

This year’s student Move-In is expected to be as big and bustling as ever, and campus community members can expect changes to the usual traffic and parking patterns from Aug. 29 through Aug. 31, right before the Labor Day weekend.

Water main project on S. Division to affect traffic for a few weeks

The city of Ann Arbor next week is planning to begin installing a new water main on South Division Street, which will affect traffic on Division and East Jefferson streets at various times over the next three or four weeks.

The work is scheduled to be done in two phases.

Construction continues on Fuller Road; expect delays

The campus community can expect delays as the city of Ann Arbor continues necessary bridge maintenance on Fuller Road through early October.

Construction was originally scheduled to be complete this summer.

Relocation of State Street crosswalk starts this weekend

In an effort to improve pedestrian safety, the university is working with the city of Ann Arbor to relocate the crosswalk on South State Street near the LSA Building. The new crosswalk will be located just north of the Michigan Union.

Section of Madison Street to be closed for Munger project

Beginning Thursday, one block of East Madison Street between Packard Street and Thompson Street will be closed for construction activity associated with the Munger Graduate Residences project.

The road closure will run until summer 2015.
