Candidates for the Board of Regents have been invited to participate in a Regent Candidate Forum to share their qualifications, outline their vision for U-M and respond to questions.
The Faculty Senate Office is coordinating the event, scheduled for 5-6 p.m. Oct. 22 at the Michigan Theater Screening Room, 603 E. Liberty St. The event is free to attend, but registration is requested, and it also will be livestreamed.

Six candidates are vying for two eight-year terms that start Jan. 1, 2025. They include Democrats Denise Ilitch and Shauna Diggs, Republicans Carl Meyers and Sevag Vartanian, Libertarian Andrew Chadderdon, and Donna Oetman of the U.S. Taxpayers Party. A confirmed slate of candidates attending the forum was unavailable at press time.
Moderating the event will be Pauline Jones, Edie N. Goldenberg Endowed Director of the Michigan in Washington Programs, professor of political science in LSA, and research professor in the Center for Political Solutions.
Each candidate will have two minutes for opening remarks, then Jones will ask three questions of all the candidates. The questions will be solicited in advance from Senate Assembly members.
The event will close with a question-and-answer session from the audience, time permitting.
The general election is Nov. 5.
