The Faculty Senate will host a candidate forum Oct. 3 to hear from four candidates running for two seats on the U-M Board of Regents in the Nov. 8 election.
Candidates who have said they will participate are incumbent Democrats Michael J. Behm and Katherine E. White, Republican Sevag Vartanian and Green Party candidate Sherry Wells.
Faculty Senate Chair Silvia Pedraza will introduce the candidates and give each one five minutes to provide a statement. She will then moderate a question-and-answer session consisting of questions submitted in advance by faculty members.
The event is open to the public and will take place from 10-11:30 a.m. in the Alexander G. Ruthven Building’s University Hall. Up to about 200 people can be seated on a first come, first serve basis. The forum also can be viewed via a livestream on YouTube.
Other Board of Regents candidates who will be listed on the Nov. 8 ballot, but who did not indicate their participation in the Faculty Senate forum, are Republican Lena Epstein, Libertarian Eric Larson, Kathleen Oakford of the Natural Law Party, and Joe Sanger of the U.S. Taxpayers Party.
