MHealthy offers incentive for questionnaire and goal setting

The University of Michigan’s MHealthy Rewards program is encouraging employees to take proactive steps to learn about and improve their health by offering a $75 incentive.

Active, benefits-eligible faculty and staff can qualify by completing the confidential health questionnaire and set a healthy goal on the MHealthy Portal.

The deadline to complete MHealthy Rewards is May 31. Last year, more than 24,000 employees participated in the program.

The health questionnaire takes about 10 minutes to complete. Based on responses, participants will:

  • Identify what health areas are thriving and which may need attention.
  • Get a personalized list of recommendations based on current health needs. The list could include services related to mental and emotional well-being, financial well-being, sleep, nutrition, physical activity, tobacco and more.

This year participants also will need to set a health-related goal on the MHealthy Portal to earn the incentive.

“Just the simple act of setting a goal can help to create a healthy habit,” said Karen Schmidt, senior director of MHealthy. “It helps us focus on our well-being priorities and encourages us to keep going in the right direction.”

The portal includes six goal setting categories: calm, sleep, reflect, social connection, nutrition or physical activity.

U-M partners with Asset Health Inc. to administer the MHealthy Portal and ensure personal information is kept confidential. In addition to the health questionnaire and goal setting, the portal includes a suite of programs and resources to support health and well-being.
