Learn about new health plans during free webinars

Free, online webinars will be conducted throughout October to introduce faculty, staff and retirees to U-M’s new health plans and address questions before the Open Enrollment period for 2024 benefits begins.

The university is offering a new Consumer-Directed Health Plan with a Health Savings Account to benefits-eligible employees. U-M also will provide new, comprehensive Medicare Advantage health plans to replace current Medicare supplemental plans to Medicare-enrolled retirees and survivors.

Open Enrollment begins Oct. 16 and continues through 5 p.m. Oct. 27. Changes can be made to health, dental, vision and legal plan enrollments during this time. Faculty and staff also may add eligible dependents and enroll in a flexible spending account.

Benefits changes and new rates take effect Jan. 1, 2024.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, Blue Care Network, HealthEquity and Physicians Health Plan will participate in a series of free, hourlong webinars next month to introduce the new health plans. A question-and-answer period is included in each session. Registration is required for each session.

Join BCBSM and HealthEquity to learn how the CDHP paired with an HSA can save on health-care premiums and build long-term health savings. Webinars will take place at 5 p.m. Oct. 11, at noon Oct. 13 and 17 and 26, and at 6 p.m. Oct. 19 and 24. Register for the webinar.

BCBSM/BCN representatives will introduce the Medicare Advantage PPO and U-M Premier Care Advantage plans at noon Oct. 5 and Oct. 23-27, and at noon and 4 p.m. Oct. 16-20. Register for the webinar.

PHP representatives also will participate in virtual meetings about its Michigan Care Advantage at 10 a.m. Oct. 5 and 6, and at noon Oct. 16-19 and Oct. 23-27. Register for the webinar.
