Five motions up for vote at Oct. 4 Faculty Senate meeting
Faculty Senate members will hear from President Mark Schlissel and Provost Susan M. Collins and also vote on five motions when they meet at 3:15 p.m. Oct. 4. The meeting will take place in the Honigman Auditorium at the Law School.

Librarian captures scientists’ lives through graphic novels
Jim Ottaviani, a U-M librarian, has been writing graphic novels about scientists for more than two decades. Ottaviani’s writing career grew out of two hobbies that started in childhood: reading comic books and studying science.

Sarah Burger was 21 years old in 1858 when she prepared a letter saying she and 11 other women desired to enroll at the University of Michigan. Later that year, the regents voted unanimously against women on campus.
