Vehicle passengers assault pedestrians

Two sets of pedestrians told police Jan. 29 that passengers in a minivan had assaulted them with projectiles. No one reportedly sought medical treatment.

One pedestrian, at the corner of South State Street and South University Avenue, reported to university police that he was struck in the neck by pellets fired from a BB gun from inside the van. He reported that the silver minivan was moving northbound on State Street and then turned eastbound on South University. Minutes later the Ann Arbor Police received a call from another person who had been walking along South Forest Street near Willard Street. The second caller indicated he had been struck by small projectiles, either pellets or small pebbles, that came from the van. The van reportedly continued southbound on Forest before turning eastbound on Hill Street.

The investigation into both incidents is continuing.
