Preventing mental health crises
Read more about MC3More than 3,200 doctors and other primary care providers across Michigan have been turning to a service called MC3 to help patients in need of mental health care. Based at U-m’s Department of Psychiatry, MC3 acts like the “Phone-a-Friend” option on a popular game show. In this video, local doctors from around Michigan and program organizers at U-M describe how the service is helping promote mental health throughout the state.

Giving thanks for Giving Blueday
Read more about Giving BluedayDonors from across the U-M community — and around the world — gave more than $5.3 million to support initiatives, programs, organizations and more on Giving Blueday, U-M’s annual day of giving. The university’s ninth Giving Blueday was March 15, and 11,200 students, alumni, faculty, staff and friends made gifts of all sizes to support all three campuses and Michigan Medicine. This video offers thanks to the donors who generously supported U-M.

Honorary degree recommendations
Read more about the 2023 spring honorary degreesWynton Marsalis, Mary Sue Coleman, Phil Hagerman and Dominique Morisseau, leaders in music, education, philanthropy and art, are being recommended for honorary degrees at the 2023 Spring Commencement. Marsalis will be the main commencement speaker at the April 29 ceremony at Michigan Stadium, and Coleman will address the Rackham Graduate Exercises.

The School of Education’s Center for Education Design, Evaluation, and Research is a partner in the effort. This video explains U-M’s role in the program and showcases how it engages students.

More details about the inaugurationAs a prelude to the inauguration of Santa J. Ono as U-M’s 15th president on March 7, UMSocial set up a selfie booth on the Diag on March 6, where passersby could snap a fun photo with a life-sized cutout of the new president. These students were among those who joined the fun, donning various props on hand. A focus on education
In his monthly video message for February, President Santa J. Ono focused on education and educators, in particular those produced by U-M’s School of Education, which celebrated its centennial last year. He highlighted notable alumni, the school’s ranking worldwide for educational research, its role in producing high-quality teachers and its recent renaming as the Marsal Family School of Education.
