Workplace award honorees announced

The Workplace Awards Selection Committee has announced Staff Recognition Award finalists and winners. They will be honored during a luncheon June 5 at the Michigan Union.

The honorees for Workplace 2008: University of Michigan Staff Recognition Awards are:

The Distinguished Service Award

Finalists:

Scott Stanfill, biophysics, LSA
Bonnie Loepke, periodontics and oral medicine, School of Dentistry

Winner:

Janet Miller, human genetics, Medical School

Outstanding Leadership Award

Finalists:

Margaret (Margay) Britton, peds/perinatal, School of Nursing
Jon Lillemoen, Occupational Safety & Environmental Health

Winner:

Judith Lawson, the School of Information

Exemplary Team Award

Finalists:

Making Mott Safer Team, comprised of 16 team members from various Health System departments
Mathematics Undergraduate Service Team, Department of Mathematics, LSA

Winner:

Pelvic Floor Research Team, School of Nursing

The Workplace Awards is a Universitywide recognition program that honors staff members who have made marked contributions to the mission and work of the University. All staff members, including bargained-for staff, are eligible for nomination. Each individual award carries a prize of $800, while team recipients divide $2,500.
