On March 18, Wolverines worldwide will come together for Giving Blueday, the University of Michigan’s annual day of giving. For 24 hours, students, alumni, faculty and staff will support the causes and programs at the university that matter most to them.
Donors can visit the Giving Blueday website to find causes, make donations, and track real-time progress throughout the day. They can also register to become an online Advocate and learn about donor-sponsored matching and challenge funds — offered only on Giving Blueday — to amplify their impact.

This year, U-M hopes to continue rallying support for its Look to Michigan fundraising campaign launched to the public in 2024, encouraging gifts of all sizes to help the university shape what’s next for education, health care, civic engagement, sustainability and more. Additionally, donors can spread their giving across the Ann Arbor, Dearborn and Flint campuses, as well as Michigan Medicine, Athletics, special initiatives and more.
“My favorite thing about Giving Blueday is that it showcases the incredible diversity of student organizations, projects and programs that make up this great university,” said Tom Baird, vice president for development. “I encourage each member of the U-M community to join the Giving Blueday excitement by making a gift in support of a cause close to their heart.”

To help spread the word, donors can sign up to become a Giving Blueday Advocate and participate in the “Give Blue +2” campaign and earn a chance to win prizes.
During Giving Blueday, donors can multiply the impact of their gift with daylong and hourly challenges and matches that are available for students, faculty, staff and more. For example, first-time donors to the university will have their gift matched up to $50.
The impact of collective giving is tremendous. On last year’s Giving Blueday, more than 11,100 donors gave $4.7 million to U-M, including support for more than 150 student organizations, such as Engineering Global Leadership Honors Society, Dance Marathon and Men’s Rugby.
Since launching in 2014, Giving Blueday has received more than 100,000 gifts totaling nearly $50 million.
