Now that Active U is over, many in the university community may be looking for ways to keep the momentum going and stay motivated to meet their physical activity goals this spring.
MHealthy is offering two new exercise programs to meet the needs of both wearable-tracker owners and those who like tracking their workouts online.
Benefits-eligible faculty and staff who own a Fitbit can sync their device to StayWell’s Step It Up! program and challenge themselves to reach at least 250,000 steps over the six-week program. Those who own a different wearable tracker or a pedometer can manually enter steps.
Step It Up! also qualifies for MHealthy Rewards and the $50 incentive for completing an activity. To be eligible to receive the incentive, the employee must complete the confidential health questionnaire, which has been reopened through May 12.
Register for Step It Up! by May 12 on the StayWell website. Registration requires logging in with a U-M uniqname and password. The program runs May 12 -June 22.
All university faculty and staff can register for the Walk, Run, Roll Club. This 14-week physical activity and stress-management program encourages exercising at least 30 minutes a day, three days a week.
Similar to Active U, participants track their physical activity minutes online in MHealthy’s Summer Tracker. Those who achieve the minimum weekly exercise goal in at least 10 of the 14 program weeks will be entered into a drawing to win prizes from MHealthy.
Each month, participants will have an opportunity to earn extra entries into the prize drawing by walking, running or wheeling to a prearranged U-M landmark on their campus. They are encouraged to take a selfie at the landmark and share the photo with MHealthy. MHealthy will post the photos to its social media sites. Anyone with mobility impairments is encouraged to contact MHealthy for assistance.
Register for the Walk, Run, Roll Club by May 29. The program runs May 4-Aug. 14.
