Statement from the U-M Board of Regents

Topics:

The Board of Regents extends its gratitude to Dave Brandon for his years of service as the university’s athletic director. We recognize Dave’s unwavering commitment to our student athletes and coaches. He leaves the athletic department on firm financial footing and with greatly improved facilities for our student athletes. He also served for eight years on the university’s Board of Regents, and he and his wife Jan have given very generously of their time, energy and resources in support of many aspects of the university, including support of Mott Children’s Hospital, the School of Education and the Art Museum.

The board appreciates Jim Hackett’s willingness to step in and serve as the interim athletic director. As an alumnus and longstanding supporter of the university, we are confident Mr. Hackett will work effectively with President Schlissel as they move Michigan Athletics forward during this period until a permanent athletic director is selected.

We appreciate and support President Schlissel’s leadership of our university community.
