Members of a committee charged with advising the provost on the selection of a new dean for the School of Public Health (SPH) met for the first time last week to hear Provost Paul N. Courant’s expectations for the search. Current Dean Noreen Clark has resigned her position, effective June 30, 2005, at the end of her second term, Courant said.
“Under Noreen’s leadership of almost a decade, the School of Public Health has made outstanding progress and is now poised to move forward on a number of fronts,” Courant said in a letter to faculty and staff at SPH. “I know that the School of Public Health and the entire University community are grateful for Dean Clark’s dedication and leadership.”
Courant asked the committee to narrow the field and report its recommendations by late in the fall term 2004.
Kenneth Warner, Avedis Donabedian Distinguished University Professor of Public Health and professor of health management and policy at SPH, is chair of the committee that will conduct a national search for Clark’s successor.
