Prof. Nathaniel H. Rowe Jr. of the School of Dentistry will hold the William R. Mann Professorship of Dentistry.
His appointment to the professorship, effective Sept. 1, was approved by the Regents at their October meeting. Rowe also is professor of oral pathology in the Medical School.
“Prof. Rowe’s contributions in patient care, teaching, research have been outstanding,” said J. Bernard Machen, dean of the School of Dentistry.
Rowe, who joined the faculty in 1968, is author or co-author of 64 scientific articles and has contributed chapters in nine textbooks. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral Pathology.
He has served as both an officer and member of various research and professional committees and societies. He was recently appointed to a Dental Specialty Task Force by the governor of Michigan.
The Mann Professorship is named for William Mann, dean of the School of Dentistry in 1962–82.
