Regents accept
$7.8 million in gifts

The Regents accepted $7,810,206 in gifts received during November. The total included $3,795,841 from individuals, $3,126,782 from corporations, $327,209 from foundations, and $560,374 from associations and others.

Regents OK several
personnel actions

New faculty appointments, with tenure, included Henry C. Kapteyn of Washington State University, as associate professor of electrical engineering and computer science, effective Jan. 1; and Margaret M. Murnane, also from Washington State University, as associate professor of electrical engineering and computer science, effective Jan. 1.

Administrative appointments included Carol T. Mowbray, associate professor of social work, as associate dean for research at the School of Social Work, effective July 1, 1996; James C. Bean, professor of industrial and operations engineering, as Ford Motor Co. Co-Director of the Tauber Manufacturing Institute, effective Jan. 1; and Maureen A. Hartford, vice president for student affairs, reappointed for a second five-year term, beginning Jan. 20, 1997.
