Central Power Plant equipment upgrade budget increases
Rising costs of electrical equipment contributed to higher construction bids for the Central Power Plant 2.4kV Switchgear Upgrade project approved by the Board of Regents in December 2007. With regent approval of a $300,000 increase, the project budget is now $2.55 million. Funding will be provided from utility resources, and work is scheduled to be complete next summer.
Towsley Children’s Center receives final approval
The regents approved issuing the Towsley Center for Children Replacement Facility project for bids and awarding construction contracts. The new $8 million building will double the capacity of the center. The project, funded from investment proceeds, is scheduled to be complete in fall 2009.
Bids to be issued for Thompson Parking Structure addition
The planned addition to the Thompson Street Parking Structure received its final approval from the regents. When completed in winter 2010, the $15.7 million addition, funded from parking resources and investment proceeds, will add nearly 300 parking spaces and new office space for both Parking & Transportation Services and the Office of Budget and Planning.
Renovations planned at University Hospital
The surgical intensive care unit on level 5D at University Hospital will be renovated to install new partition walls and doors. The Hospitals and Health Centers will fund the $1.375 million project slated for completion in winter 2009.
Waiting rooms to be reconfigured at Taubman Health Center
Clinic entries and waiting rooms will be reconfigured on the second level of the Taubman Health Care Center to accommodate increasing patient volumes. Hospital and Health Center funding will be used for the $4.482 million project scheduled for completion in fall 2009.

Retirements
William Gosling, curator, Children’s Literature Collection, University Library, and former University librarian, effective March 31. He joined the University in 1986. Gosling led the library during a period of rapid change and dynamic technological innovation. He led the library’s migration to a new, integrated catalog and acquisitions system, which currently holds more than 20 million records.
