Editor’s Note: The following actions were approved by the Regents at their January meeting.

Four administrative appointments ok’d

Administrative appointments approved included:

  • Ludwig Koenen, the Herbert C. Youtie Professor of Papyrology, will continue to serve as chair of the Department of Classical Studies, effective July 1–Dec. 31, 1994.

  • Ctirad Uher, professor of physics, will chair the Department of Physics for a five-year term beginning July 1.

  • Jackie R. McClain, director of human resources at the University of Kansas, was appointed executive director of human resources and affirmative action, effective Feb. 15.

  • Ada Sue Hinshaw, director of the National Institute for Nursing Research at the National Institutes of Health, was named dean of the School of Nursing.

    Her appointment will be for a five-year term, effective July 1. She also will serve as professor of nursing, with tenure.

    $15 million in gifts accepted

    A total of $15,044,260 in gifts received during December 1993 was accepted, including $12,062,823 from individuals, $1,057,719 from corporations, $1,373,666 from foundations, and $550,052 from associations and others.
