Law School office to move to Madison Building
The Law School Development and Alumni Relations Office will relocate to the third floor of 109 E. Madison later this spring after renovations have been completed. The move will empty the building at 721 S. State, which will be demolished this summer in preparation for the construction of the Joan and Sanford Weill Hall of the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy. The renovations at East Madison—which also houses the Building Services administration offices—are estimated to cost $880,000, which will be funded from University investment proceeds.
Two sports areas to be repaired
Additional wheelchair-accessible seating will be installed in the north end zone of Michigan Stadium this summer when concrete is replaced in five sections of seating areas. Periodic concrete replacement occurs at the stadium, which was constructed in 1924. This project addresses repairs in sections 28 through 33 and is estimated to cost $2 million, which will be funded from Athletic Department sources.
Eight of the 16 existing tennis courts on Palmer Field will be reconstructed this summer. The courts, which are adjacent to Washtenaw Avenue, were resurfaced in 1986. In addition to the removal and replacement of the court surface, improvements to the drainage system and installation of lights, the $600,000 project will include landscaping of the adjacent slope behind the Mosher-Jordan residence hall. Funding will be provided by the Department of Recreational Sports.
