New fitness area for IM Building
Existing offices on the second floor of the Intramural Sports Building on Hoover Street, along with portions of locker rooms on the second and third floors, will be converted into a weight training and fitness area this summer. The renovation will include 14,000 gross square feet of space. The project is estimated to cost $990,000, which will be funded from the University’s general fund on behalf of the Department of Recreational Sports.

Retirements
Gerald Gardner, professor of psychology in the College of Arts, Sciences, and Letters at U-M-Dearborn, effective Dec. 31, 2003. He joined U-M-Dearborn in 1971. Gardner is a nationally recognized expert in environmental psychology. He has been published widely in the areas of human behavior and public policy. He has been a consultant to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in Washington and served on the task force for the Ocean Pollution Research program.
