Regents approve administrative appointments for 15

Administrative appointments approved by the Regents at their September meeting included:

Donald R. Brown, professor of psychology, will continue to serve as director of the Center for Research on Learning and Teaching until Oct. 31.

Glenda Radine will continue to serve as interim director of the U-M Extension Service until June 30, 1995.

George I. Haddad, the Robert J. Hiller Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, was reappointed chair of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science for a three-year term beginning Jan. 1, 1994.

Susan M. Eklund was reappointed associate dean for student affairs, admissions and operations at the Law School for a three-year term beginning July 1.

Virginia B. Gordan was reappointed Law School assistant dean for student affairs for a three-year term beginning Sept. 1.

David Schoem was reappointed LS&A assistant dean for undergraduate education for a three-year term, effective Jan. 1, 1994.

Harrison L. Morton, professor of forest pathology, was reappointed associate dean in the School of Natural Resources and Environment for a three-year term beginning July 1.

Valener L. Perry was reappointed assistant dean for student services in the College of Pharmacy for a five-year term beginning Sept. 1.

John P. Weidenbach’s appointment as director of athletics was extended through June 30, 1994.

Lawrence S. Root, professor of social work, was named director of the Institute of Labor and Industrial Relations for a three-year term, effective Sept. 1.

Richard O. Lempert, the Francis A. Allen Collegiate Professor of Law and professor of sociology, will be acting chair of the Department of Sociology through June 30, 1994.

Helen Joan Morley, associate professor of linguistics, will be acting director of the English Language Institute during winter term 1994.

Arnold S. Monto, professor of epidemiology and of population planning and international health, will be interim chair of the Department of Population Planning and International Health, effective Oct. 1, 1993–Sept. 30, 1994.

Betsy Lozoff, professor of pediatrics and communicable diseases, will direct the Center for Human Growth and Development for a five-year term, effective Oct. 1.

John D. Forsyth was reappointed executive director of the U-M Hospitals for another term, effective Dec. 1, 1995–Aug. 31, 1999.
