Beginning May 15, drivers with four or more unpaid parking violations may find their vehicles have been towed. Previously, vehicles were towed after owners accumulated six unpaid tickets.
William B. Krumm, associate vice president for business operations, says that for several years the University has had a contract with the city for collection of parking violation fines on Uni-versity property.
Earlier this year the Ann Arbor City Council reduced the number of unpaid tickets that could be accumulated without the vehicle being towed from six to four. Since towing is triggered by the total number of city and University tickets issued to a particular vehicle, the University has decided to also use four unpaid tickets as the cutoff for towing vehicles.
Persons with unpaid tickets can pay their fines 8 a.m.–5 p.m. weekdays at the city Treasurer’s Office, 100 N. Fifth Ave., or mail them to the Treasurer’s Office, P.O. Box 8039, Ann Arbor, MI 48107. Partial payments will be accepted. To avoid towing, full payment must be received by May 15. To ensure proper credit when mailing payments, write your license plate number on the check or money order.
