Obituary — Gretchen Neal Jackson

Gretchen Neal Jackson, 78, of Ann Arbor died Oct. 25 at Glacier Hills Senior Community. She was born Jan. 20, 1944, in New Orleans to Robert Frazer Neal and Hazel Atkinson Neal, who predeceased her.

Gretchen married John E. Jackson on Aug. 14, 1965. They have two children, Michael, born in 1968, and Carrie, born in 1974.

In 1980, she and John moved to Ann Arbor where she spent the remainder of her life. She had a 15-year career in development at the University of Michigan, beginning in what is now the Stephen M. Ross School of Business, then in leadership roles in the Office of University Development, and ending as director of development for the School of Music, Theatre & Dance.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, John E. Jackson; son, J. Michael Neal of Minneapolis; daughter, Carrie Neal Jackson of State College, Pennsylvania; and a sister, Marjorie Neal McCabe of E. Derry, New Hampshire.

Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Gretchen’s name to the Gretchen Neal Jackson Scholarship Fund at SMTD at donate.umich.edu/Yzr4v.
