Through a newly automated system, Michigan faculty and staff can now show their support for the University with just a few, simple keystrokes.
Launched last week, the feature enables employees to set up payroll deductions online for their gifts to the University, designate where at U-M they want their support to go and select the duration of their giving. The feature also permits supporters to make adjustments to their contributions.
Employees can get to the system through the Wolverine Access link, located on the U-M homepage ( www.umich.edu). Once they have logged on to Wolverine Access, donors proceed to “Employee Business” and select the “Voluntary Deductions” tab found under “Payroll and Compensation.”
“This opens up an easy and convenient way to support the place that has been so important to all of us,” says Patricia Warner, associate director of the U-M Hospitals and Health Centers and chief administrative officer of C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and Women’s Hospital, who serves as co-spokesperson for the faculty staff campaign with Paul Courant, University librarian and dean of libraries. “It offers wonderful flexibility for our employee donors to make a real impact on the parts of the University that matter most to them.”
Through September, more than 16,500 donors have contributed more than $154 million as part of The Heart of the Michigan Difference, the faculty, staff and retiree component of The Michigan Difference Campaign. Their generosity has provided financial aid for students, support for medical and scientific discovery, resources for faculty and contributions for facilities where they teach and conduct research.
The campaign continues until Dec. 31.
