Employees injured on the job previously went to one of two places for help, depending on if they work for the U-M Health System or main campus.

In order to create a single clinic to handle work-related health care needs of all Ann Arbor faculty and staff, University Hospital‘s Employee Health Services and the part of the MWorks Occupational Health Clinic that serves the main campus have merged.
The new combined clinic, U-M Occupational Health Services, opens March 16. It also will handle occupational health exams for the Dearborn campus. Information and directions to the new clinic, which is part of the MHealthy program of employee health and well-being services, can be found on the MHealthy Web site, www.hr.umich.edu/mhealthy.
“Combining these two clinics will help marshal our exceptional resources to provide even better care for faculty and staff in a more efficient manner. I’m pleased that Dr. Susan Blitz and Dr. Dan Chapman will continue to lead the clinic team with their occupational health expertise,” says LaVaughn Palma-Davis, senior director of University Health and Well-Being Services.

Services provided at the new clinic are much the same as those provided by the two programs: care for work-related injuries/illnesses and exposure to infectious diseases or body fluids; occupational health physicals, assessments and exams; FAA flight physicals; required vaccinations, immunizations and TB tests; as well as medical surveillance, occupational health consultations and information to support positive health behaviors.
“We look forward to continuing to work with our partners in Occupational Safety and Environmental Health, UMHS Safety Management Services, Work~Connections, UMHS Infection Control and other departments to protect and promote the health and well-being of our faculty and staff,” says Dr. Susan Blitz, medical director.
U-M Occupational Health Services will be open from 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. The clinic will be located on the third floor of the Med Inn Building of the Health System. The Med Inn is located on the medical campus between the University Hospital and C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital. Parking will be available in a small lot next to the Med Inn, with several spaces designated for “Occupational Health.”
The MWorks clinic, which stopped serving external employers on January 31, will close March 13.
