To recognize the outstanding contributions of its staff, the University of Michigan has created the Staff Impact Awards. Created as part of the university’s bicentennial celebration, the awards will honor staff, supervisors and work teams that help the university meet its missions.
“As we enter our third century, it’s more important than ever to recognize our remarkable staff members,” said Kevin Hegarty, executive vice president and chief financial officer. “The efforts of our people are essential for the university to serve our students, care for our patients, and perform world-changing research.”
The annual Staff Impact Awards will honor individual staff members, supervisors and work teams. Individual award winners will receive $1,500, and $2,500 will go to teams that demonstrate excellence in collaboration, volunteerism and outstanding effectiveness.
Regular staff from all university campuses and Michigan Medicine are eligible.
The awards were developed from recommendations of a Voices of the Staff committee in order to recognize the value of staff who do exemplary work and build positive culture.
“That this award was born from the exceptional work of our staff makes it especially meaningful,” says Laurita Thomas, associate vice president for human resources and founding sponsor of Voices of the Staff. “In my career, I have witnessed thousands upon thousands of staff who are passionate about making Michigan the best it can be.”
The Staff Impact Awards are sponsored by the Office of the Chief Financial Officer. Nominations can be made, and more information can be found, at sia.umich.edu. Nominations are accepted through Jan. 8, 2018. Award recipients will be announced in spring 2018.
