Muir named Campaign interim director

Roy E. Muir, associate vice president for development, will become interim executive director of The Campaign for Michigan Feb. 1, heading Campaign efforts while the University continues its search for a new vice president for development. He succeeds Joe Roberson, who will become director of athletics on that date.

In announcing the appointment, President James J. Duderstadt says that “during this time of transition, I have every confidence in the abilities of our development professional staff. Roy has worked in development at the University for 18 years, and served as director of our last campaign. He is supported by an exceptional staff that will continue to sustain the excellent progress being made toward the $1 billion Campaign goal.”

Provost Gilbert R. Whitaker Jr. notes that Muir “will work closely with me and with the deans in our efforts to maintain and increase the high level of campaign activity. I share Jim’s confidence in the high quality of our professional development staff, and I know that with Roy’s leadership we will be able to sustain the excellent progress now being made toward the Campaign goal.

“Joe has served the University extremely well as executive director of The Campaign for Michigan for the past two years, and we are grateful for his leadership,” Whitaker adds.
