Eating healthier can help people feel better, have more energy and even handle stress better. It is also one of the best ways to prevent and control health problems like heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes and some forms of cancer.
MHealthy will hold an Eat Smarter Chef Demonstration from noon-1 p.m. Wednesday at the Rogel Ballroom in the Michigan Union.
The free event includes food samples, recipes and tips on healthy eating. U-M faculty, staff and spouses/other qualified adults (OQAs) are welcome to attend. No registration is required, but space is limited. Please bring your U-M employee ID for faster check-in.
The hourlong demonstration is led by Arron Bruck, certified executive chef, MDining; and Nicolaus Machinski, Cook 1, MDining. Get step-by-step instruction on how to prepare quick and healthy dishes that incorporate seasonal produce in new and creative ways.
Additionally, the event is eligible for MHealthy’s Grand Prize Drawing. Benefits-eligible faculty and staff and their U-M health plan-enrolled spouses/OQAs that attend and provide a U-M employee ID can enter the drawing for a chance to win one of six $500 American Express gift cards.
The chef demonstration is part of Michigan Harvest Events, celebrating local, sustainable food at Michigan. Michigan Harvest Events (an expansion of Food Day) take place on campus until the last local harvest has been exhausted.
