Executive Director of University Audits Jeff Moelich is retiring from the University of Michigan, effective June 30.
Moelich has led the department for nearly 12 years following a career in the private and academic sectors. Moelich previously was senior vice president of internal audit at Eaton Corporation and held key roles at General Motors, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Deloitte. He was Goodyear Executive Professor at Kent State University.

He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the University of Detroit and an MBA from U-M. He is a Certified Public Accountant.
“Earlier this year, Jeff shared his plans to retire. Jeff has been an outstanding leader of Audit Services for over a decade,” said President Domenico Grasso. “His professional expertise, positive and helpful attitude, and kind demeanor will be deeply missed. We wish him the best in this next chapter of his life.”
Hilaire Nachtrab, internal audit associate director, will serve as the interim executive director. Nachtrab has spent 12 years in auditing at U-M, and has more than 20 years experience in private and agency auditing roles.
The university has selected Opus Search Partners to assist with the search process. A national search to find the next Audit Services leader will begin in the coming weeks.
Audit Services is an independent and objective unit at U-M that partners with schools, colleges and departments to identify and manage risks and improve processes.
