Hispanic Student Leadership Award ceremony scheduled

The first annual Hispanic Student Leadership Award celebration will be held at 5 p.m. Tues. (April 19) in the Tribute Room, School of Education.

Six students will receive $300 scholarships, awarded by the Michigan Educational Opportunity Fund Inc., the Office of Minority Student Services and the Programs for Educational Opportunity at the School of Education.

The awards recognize the students’ involvement and volunteerism on campus and their leadership in the community. The award recipients and their fields of study are:

—Alison Patricia Fornes, senior, cellular and molecular biology;

—Julie Guerrero, senior, Latin American and Caribbean studies;

—Luis Alberto Pichardo, senior, computer science;

—Vincent A. Trujillo, sophomore, who has been accepted into the Business School’s B.B.A. Program;

—Daniel D. Zarazua, sophomore, history;

—Linda S. Vega-Rodriguez, a doctoral student in higher adult and continuing education.
