Authors Micheal O’Siadhail, Julie Ellison, Rei Terada and Jane Smiley will present their works in the Visiting Writers Series this month.
Sponsored by the Department of English and Borders Book Shop, the series features fiction and poetry readings by more than two dozen writers. Most readings are free to the public.

Thursday (March 10), 5 p.m., Rackham Amphitheater: Irish author Micheal O’Siadhail, who has written six books of poetry in English and three in Irish, is a leading scholar of the Irish language and author of Learning Irish and Modern Irish. Co-sponsored with the Institute for the Humanities, International Institute, Horace H. Rackham School of Graduate Studies and the Department of English.
March 17, 5 p.m., Rackham Amphitheater: English Prof. Julie Ellison, a Fellow at the Institute for the Humanities, has written two scholarly books and dozens of poems, including a recently completed poetry manuscript, “The Worry Prayer,” and poet Rei Terada, assistant professor of English, is the author of Derek Walcott’s Poetry: American Mimicry.
March 31, 7:30 p.m., Irwin Green Auditorium Hillel Foundation: Fiction writer Jane Smiley has written A Thousand Acres, The Age of Grief, Ordinary Love & Goodwill and The Green Landers. Co-sponsored with Hillel. Call 769-0500 for tickets ($8 general public, $5 students).
