In the Name of Mercy, a novel, is due out later this year.

• April 18, 3:30 p.m., Rackham Auditorium: California author Diane Johnson has written several novels, including Fair Game, The Shadow Knows and Persian Nights, as well as biographies and screenplays, such as The Shining. Her reading will take place at the Hopwood Awards ceremony.
