The Museum of Art will present the second concert in its 1992–93 Chamber Concert Season at 8 p.m. Thursday (Jan. 21), in the Apse.

“The Museum Chamber Strings: In an English Garden” complements the special exhibition “The Cultivated Image: Garden Photographs by Michael Kenna.”

The concert features a program of British music by Handel, Holst, Elgar and Vaughan Williams. The Museum Chamber Strings, led by Paul Kantor, features soloists Penelope Fischer, flute, and Harry Sargous, oboe.

Concertgoers are encouraged to attend a free, docent-led tour of the exhibition at 7 p.m. This is a new feature of the Chamber Concert series and will be continued with subsequent concerts.

The Jan. 21 program includes the Concerto Grosso, Op.6, by G.F. Handel; a Fugal Concerto for Flute, Oboe and String Orchestra, Op. 40, No. 2, by Gustav Holst; the Serenade for String Orchestra, Op. 20, by Sir Edward Elgar; the Oboe Concerto, by R. Vaughan Williams; and St. Paul’s Suite for String Orchestra, by Gustav Holst.

Individual tickets are $12 ($7 for students with ID) at the Museum Gift Shops or call 747-0521. The Gift Shop will be open 5–7:45 p.m. the evening of the concert.
