A new initiative to integrate cancer care services in west Michigan will soon give patients broader access to comprehensive diagnosis, treatment and support across leading health care institutions.

William “B.J.” Hull, a fundraiser with deep experience in higher education, has been appointed vice chancellor for university advancement at UM-Flint, effective Jan. 20, 2020.

Keith A. Moreland, professor of accounting in the School of Management at UM-Flint, has been appointed interim provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs, effective Jan. 1, 2020.

U-M has created a scholarship in retiring Vice President for Student Life E. Royster Harper’s name to honor her more than four decades of service and named her vice president emeritus. 

The university submitted capital outlay requests and the five-year master plans for the Ann Arbor, Dearborn and Flint campuses to the state of Michigan earlier this fall.

After serving as interim director since June 2018, Tony Burger has been selected as the university’s new director of procurement services. Burger’s appointment was effective Dec. 1.

The Michigan Institute for Data Science recently announced its first round of Propelling Original Data Science grant winners from U-M, which included 15 interdisciplinary teams from nine schools.

U-M led the nation with 22 faculty members elected as 2019 fellows of the American Association for the Advancement of Science for “scientifically or socially distinguished efforts to advance science or its applications.”
