Andrew Hoffman, a faculty member at the Frederick A. & Barbara Erb Institute, has been recognized for his innovative teaching on market transformation as a 2016 Aspen Institute Faculty Pioneer Award recipient. For more than a decade, the Aspen Institute Faculty Pioneer Awards have recognized faculty at the vanguard of teaching about the business and society interface. Hoffman’s courses recognized by this award include Strategies for Sustainable Development I: Enterprise Integration and Strategies for Sustainable Development II: Market Transformation. Hoffman is the Holcim (US) Professor of Sustainable Enterprise, a position that holds joint appointments at the Stephen M. Ross School of Business and the School of Natural Resources and Environment. He also serves as education director of the Graham Sustainability Institute.

Eugene Rogers

Eugene Rogers, associate professor of music, School of Music, Theatre & Dance, will be among three artists receiving the sixth annual Sphinx Medals of Excellence. The awards will be bestowed at the official Sphinx Medals of Excellence luncheon, and honorees will be celebrated at a private dinner in Washington, D.C. The grants honor outstanding artists of color who demonstrate artistic excellence, outstanding work ethic, a spirit of determination and ongoing commitment to leadership. The medalists also will each receive a $50,000 artist grant for their career development. Recognized as a leading conductor, pedagogue and lecturer, Rogers has appeared throughout the United States and abroad. Rogers also is associate professor of conducting, the associate director of choirs at U-M. and recently began his post as the first National Chair of the American Choral Directors Association Diversity Initiatives Standing Committee.

Marlanna Landero

The Michigan ACE Women’s Network elected Marlanna Landero to its executive board. Landero is program manager of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and Student Programs for the Division of Public Safety and Security. Landero will fill a term until 2017, then be eligible to serve two three-year terms on the board.
