Dr. Hitinder S. Gurm, associate professor of internal medicine at the University of Michigan Health System, is among the winners of the 2016 MHA Keystone Center Patient Safety & Quality Leadership Award. He directs inpatient services in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine and carotid interventions in Cardiovascular Medicine. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan nominated him for his visionary leadership as director of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Cardiovascular Consortium — Percutaneous Coronary Intervention Collaborative Quality Initiative.

Dr. Eva L. Feldman, the Russell N. DeJong Professor of Neurology and professor of neurology, is being honored as one of America’s top doctors at the 11th Annual National Physician of the Year Awards. Presented by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd., the awards annually recognize exemplary physicians practicing in communities throughout the United States. She is one of three recipients of the Clinical Excellence Award. Feldman is the principal investigator of the first clinical trial of intraspinal transplantation of stem cells in patients with ALS, and also serves as director of the Taubman Medical Research Institute and as director of the Program for Neurology Research and Discovery.
