Event: 1932 Olympic Games in Los Angeles

U-M Track star Eddie Tolan wins gold medal in 200-meter sprint. Since 1900, 205 U-M students and coaches — including swimmer Michael Phelps, winner of eight gold medals in the 2008 games in Beijing, China — have participated in the Olympics, representing the U.S. and 23 other countries. This week in history (25 years ago):

Michigan Union Director Frank Cianciola reports that the Union has moved another step toward completing its evolution as a university center of programs, activities and services with the opening of six new operations on its ground floor mall: Barnes & Noble book store, Sun Photo, Pronto Printing and Typing Service, Great Places Travel Consultants, National Bank of Detroit, and Computer Adoption Center/Study Break.
