Neal Krause, Marshall H. Becker Collegiate Professor of Public Health, associate chair of Health Behavior and Health Education, and senior research scientist, Institute of Gerontology, is the 2013 recipient of the Gerontological Society of America’s Distinguished Career Contribution Award. Krause’s work focuses on stress and the resources people use, such as social relationships and religion, to cope with these stressors.
Anna Gilbert, professor of mathematics, LSA, has been selected to receive the 2013 Ralph E. Kleinman Prize from the Society of Applied and Interdisciplinary Mathematics. The prize is awarded for outstanding research, or other contributions, that bridge the gap between mathematics and applications. The citation recognizes Gilbert’s creative and deep contributions to the mathematics of signal processing, data analysis and communications.
Lydia Bieri, assistant professor of mathematics, LSA, has been awarded a National Science Foundation Faculty Early Career Development Award for her project Geometric-Analytic Investigations of Spacetimes and their Nonlinear Phenomena. The award is the NSF’s most prestigious recognition supporting junior faculty who exemplify the role of teacher-scholars through outstanding research, excellent education and the integration of education and research within the mission of their organizations.
