Starting this week, university retirees are once again receiving mailed copies of The University Record.
With the addition of nearly 8,000 retirees and 1,000 additional copies to improve distribution across campus, the total distribution of the Record will double to a total of 19,000 copies. Most are distributed free through racks located in academic and health system buildings.
“Mailing the Record to retirees will give the print edition of the Record added exposure to an important and growing segment of our readership,” said Rick Fitzgerald, associate director of public affairs and internal communications.
Distribution to retirees was halted in 2009 as a cost-cutting measure. With advertising sales improving and readership stronger than ever, the cost of mailing the Record to retirees is being underwritten as a pilot project of the Office of the Vice President for Global Communications.
The University Record also is available online at ur.umich.edu.
A companion email newsletter, the Record Update, is sent each morning to more than 42,000 university email addresses.
