Road rage spills into parking lot

A staff member told police he was struck by a truck while protecting his own vehicle following an earlier dispute over driving methods. The incident reportedly occurred around 8 a.m. Feb. 21 in Lot NC43 near Fuller Road and Bonisteel Boulevard. The victim said he initially observed the older, blue pickup truck near Washtenaw Avenue and Ferdon Street, when the pickup was blocking traffic. The two drivers gestured to each other, while the victim drove away. Later he observed the pickup following him into the North Campus parking lot. After he reportedly parked his vehicle, the truck struck his vehicle, resulting in a broken tail light and bumper damage. The victim then stood between the two vehicles, and reported that the truck struck him twice before leaving the lot. The victim did not require medical attention.

Visitor found bleeding in Church structure

A U-M visitor was found Feb. 20 in the Church Street parking structure with facial injuries. He reported that another man had struck him several times after the two had exchanged words at a nearby restaurant. The victim was taken to the U-M Emergency Department for treatment. The case has been closed because the victim does not wish to pursue charges.

Two burglaries at Legal Research may be related

Staff at the Legal Research building reported two burglaries within a week that may be related. The first incident, reported Feb. 23, involved apparent efforts to break into a pop machine and an automated teller machine. Neither attempt was successful. On Feb. 28, staff reported that an exterior window pane had been found broken and a protecting grate was pulled away from the window. No items were reported missing. There are no suspects in either case.

Laptop taken from West Quad room

A student reported Feb. 1 that her laptop was taken from her room while she slept. The door reportedly had been left ajar between 1-4 a.m. There are no suspects.

Moped taken from SQ bike rack

A moped reportedly was stolen from a bike rack near South Quadrangle residence hall, a student told police. The moped reportedly was taken sometime between Feb. 8-22. There are no suspects.
