| A century ago, graduating seniors in LSA presented a gift to the university: a carved oak lectern to be used in the new Hill Auditorium. Like the great hall, the lectern was the design of the architect Albert Kahn. For 100 years, 1913 lectern has symbolized U-M’s role as a democratic forum — a place where society’s challenges are debated and struggled over. (heritage.umich.edu/story/the-1913-lectern/)
Through spring, The Record’s “Old School” feature will highlight the stories and images that are being presented on the new U-M Heritage Project website.
