This month in history (153 years ago)

The Law School began operations in October 1859, by action of the Board of Regents. Since the 1860s, foreign students have been part of the school’s student body and international law has been part of the curriculum. By the turn of the century, 80 students from outside the United States had received degrees from the Law School — U-M Encyclopedic Survey and Law School website
