Student reported sexual assault
A resident of Baits Housing reported Dec. 5 that she had been sexually assaulted in her room by a visiting acquaintance. The Department of Public Safety (DPS) issued Crime Alert #23 to inform the community. The suspect was interviewed and the investigation is continuing.
Unarmed robbery reported
A student told police Oct. 10 that she had been robbed around 1 p.m. while walking along East University Avenue. The student said as she crossed Willard Street, she was approached by an unknown man who asked for money. As she tried backing away, the man reportedly grabbed her arm and demanded more money. She gave him $8 and was able to flee. DPS issued Crime Alert #24 with a brief description of the suspect. However, the investigation has been closed as the student has not responded to subsequent contacts from police.
Another Honda stolen from Wolverine Tower lot
A third Honda Accord was reported to have been stolen within three weeks from the Wolverine Tower parking lot. Two vehicles stolen in November were recovered a few days later in Detroit. The third vehicle reportedly was stolen on Dec. 5 between 7:55 a.m. and 12:05 p.m. Police have no suspects.
Visitor assaulted after striking vehicle
Several men reportedly were involved in a fight around 2:30 a.m. Dec. 10 in the Forest Street parking structure. A 27-year-old Ann Arbor man was injured and required medical treatment. Reportedly the man had struck a vehicle several times with his fists. Two of the vehicle occupants exited the vehicle and a fight ensued. The investigation still is pending.
Laptop taken from open room
An East Quadrangle resident reported to police Dec. 17 that her laptop had been taken from her room. It was determined that she had left her room door open and unattended between about 12:45 p.m. and 1 a.m. Police have no suspects.
Facilities storage cages damaged
Two interior maintenance equipment cages were damaged in December. A cage at the Michigan League was broken into between 3 p.m. Dec. 9 and 7:15 a.m. Dec. 12, but nothing reportedly was taken. A steel gate on a cage in a Facilities Services Building was damaged but entry was not made between 3:30 p.m. Dec. 16 and 6:30 a.m. Dec. 19. Investigations into both incidents have been closed due to lack of leads.
