Student reports sexual assault

A student told university police Dec. 13 that she had been sexually assaulted earlier that morning in an East Quad room. She said that as she walked across campus from an off-campus party, she encountered a classmate, who she said forced her into the residence hall and assaulted her. However, a review of the East Quad entrance videos did not show her entering the building during the time frame she indicated. Attempts by police investigators to follow up with her were not successful. The case has been closed.

Nurse assaulted by patient

A University Hospital nurse told university police Dec. 16 that she had been assaulted by an unruly patient two days earlier. The patient reportedly had struck the nurse in the face with equipment cords and injured the nurse’s hand. The investigation is continuing.

Theft from unoccupied room

A West Quad resident left her room door open shortly after returning from class Dec. 6, she told university police. When she returned to her room a few minutes later, her backpack containing property valued around $1,600 and her roommate’s laptop computer were missing.

Equipment missing from Tennis shed

A snow blower and power washer were reported stolen from an unlocked shed at the Varsity Tennis Center Dec. 21. A facilities staff person told university police that the shed was closed when he left the previous evening. But upon arriving at work around 7 a.m., he found the shed door open and the property was missing.

Broken window found at Golf Course

When a staff person arrived at the U-M Golf Course Clubhouse Dec. 11 to open the facility, he found the bottom window of the front door had been broken. No property was reported missing, however.
