This week in history (70 years ago)

It was announced that popular entertainer Glenn Miller of “Tuxedo Junction” and “Moonlight Serenade” fame would be bringing his big band to the Intramural Sports Building on June 14 for the annual Senior Ball. Miller, winner of the 1939 Downbeat magazine popularity poll, also was known for his weekly broadcasts on NBC radio. — The Michigan Daily
