The Board of Regents announced plans to open The Dearborn Center, west of Evergreen Road and south of Ford Road in Dearborn. Construction was expected to be completed by fall on a classroom building, student services building, engineering building and faculty offices. The creation of the center was made possible by a $6.5 million gift from Ford Motor Co. A key part was Fair Lane mansion, built by Henry Ford in 1915. It was known as the historical center of the new campus.
