Williams named Facilities & Operations human resources officer
Eric J. Williams has been named the human resources officer for Facilities and Operations. His appointment was announced by Henry Baier, associate vice president for facilities and operations.
Williams, who began work Feb. 21, is responsible for providing human resource services to the 1,500 employees in Plant Operations, Plant Extension, Department of Public Safety, and Occupational Safety and Environmental Health. He will design and facilitate initiatives for organizational change and development; manage and coordinate training activities; develop and coordinate human resource programs, activities and strategies; and partner with central human resources to develop recruitment and retention strategies.
Most recently, Williams was the vice president of operations for Khason Management Services in Tampa, Fla., an assisted-living organization with locations in Florida, Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi. Williams has provided consulting services for strategic planning, staff development and diversity training to non-profits, higher education institutions and major corporations.
Hilliard to direct fund-raising for Athletic Department
Michael L. Hilliard has been named director of development for the Athletic Department.
With 13 years’ experience as a development professional, Hilliard has directed the School of Business Administration’s fund-raising efforts for the past three years. He was part of a team that raised a record $23.9 million in 1998-99, following that with more than $16 million midway through 1999-2000.
Hilliard and his staff will be involved with several long- and short-term projects, including the Athletic Department’s endowed scholarship program, Victors Club and annual giving solicitations, and alumni relations programs.
Hilliard has been involved in higher education development and athletics since 1993, when he served as director of development for athletics and the College of Engineering and Science at the University of Detroit. He also directed fund-raising efforts for the Michigan State University College of Engineering and was director of development and alumni relations at University of Detroit Jesuit High School.
