U-M faculty and staff can invest in their own financial health during Financial Wellness Week from May 7-11. More than 30 free workshops will help participants develop the skills, knowledge and confidence to make sound financial decisions at any career stage.

Topic areas include budgeting and debt, saving for retirement, transitioning from career to retirement, women’s financial health, and managing investments.

Financial Wellness Week events will take place at Central Campus, North Campus and Michigan Medicine locations. Interested faculty and staff who are unable to attend an event in person can participate in more than a dozen live webinars.

Featured events include:

• “Optimistic Aging: Charting Your Course for Retirement Adventure” — A presentation by Margit Henderson about the non-financial aspects of retirement planning, including mental, physical, social and emotional strategies to prepare for the transition to retirement. (1-2:30 p.m. May 8, Michigan League, Vandenburg Room)

• Drop-in “help desk” assistance with Fidelity representatives at the Michigan League (10 a.m.-1 p.m. May 7 in the Michigan Room, 2-5 p.m. May 8 in the Koessler Room, and 2-5 p.m. May 10 in the Koessler Room)

All sessions are open to any faculty or staff member free of charge. There is no requirement to have an account with either of the presenting organizations to participate. Advance registration for all sessions is encouraged.

The Benefits Office coordinates Financial Wellness Week in partnership with the Michigan Medicine Faculty Development Office, TIAA and Fidelity Investments.

It would be useful to include a link to the schedule, since only 3 of the “more than 30” events are listed in the article.
