The School of Management at the University of Michigan-Flint will expand this year with two new instructional departments: the Department of Accounting, Finance and International Business, and the Department of Management and Marketing.
The departments were approved Thursday by the Board of Regents.
The School of Management has seen increased enrollment during the last two decades. The Department of Accounting, Finance and International Business will include a chair and approximately 12 tenure-track faculty members and nine lecturers. The Department of Management and Marketing will include a chair and approximately 14 tenure-track faculty members and six lecturers.
School of Management Dean Scott D. Johnson said the two departments seemed the most natural way to break up the school. Having two department chairs, he said, offers more leadership opportunities for junior faculty as well as for students and student groups.
