Board of Regents to meet Dec. 5 at University Hall
The Board of Regents will meet Dec. 5 in University Hall in the Alexander G. Ruthven Building. The meeting is tentatively scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. Members of the public also will be able to watch a livestream of the meeting at umich.edu/watch/. Those wishing to make comments during the meeting must attend in person. An agenda will be posted online at noon Dec. 2 at regents.umich.edu/meetings/agendas/. Those wishing to sign up to speak at the meeting, or who wish to submit written or video comments, must do so by 5 p.m. Dec. 2. Campus parking and transportation changes for Thanksgiving
In preparation for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday break, Logistics, Transportation & Parking is advising the campus community of modifications for parking and transportation services. Staff parking enforcement will be suspended Nov. 28 and 29 for permits and meter fees in all parking areas except the P1, P2/P3, P4 and P5 parking structures on the Medical Campus, as well as the M71 and M95 surface lots. Yellow AVI permit parkers will have access to park at P3, P4 and P5 on Nov. 28 and 29. Specially signed spaces will require appropriate permits and remain enforced at all times. Patient and visitor parking in P1, P2/P3, P4, and P5 will be unchanged Nov. 28-Dec. 1. The patient/visitor areas at the Fletcher Street and Palmer parking structures will be free for patients and visitors from 6 p.m. Nov. 27 until 6 a.m. Nov. 30. There will be no bus or shuttle service Nov. 28 or 29. Regular weekend transit service will resume Nov. 30. There will be no East Ann Arbor Employee Parking Shuttle, Late Night Shuttle, Ride Home or State Street Ride from Nov. 28 through Dec. 1, and no paratransit services Nov. 28 or 29.
UM-Dearborn honors staff members with recognition awards
The UM-Dearborn’s campus community honored employees Nov. 13 at the Chancellor’s Staff Recognition Awards breakfast. Awards were presented for staff members going above and beyond, as well as those celebrating milestone anniversaries. In addition to the 81 staff members celebrating milestone anniversaries this year, five awards were presented to people or teams who went above and beyond in their roles across campus to support UM-Dearborn’s mission. Those awards and recipients are:
- Innovation Award — Sophie Nguyen, business intelligence analyst, Institutional Research and Effectiveness.
- Advancing the Mission Award — External Relations Web Team: Bailey Ayers-Korpal, Kalanda Kambeya, Claudia Lugo-Meeks and John Powell.
- Community Engagement Award — Molly Manley, outreach and engagement specialist, Office of Community Engaged Learning.
- Student Success Award — Kimberly LaPere, CIS graduate program coordinator, Computer and Information Science.
- Dearborn Victor Award — Dan Blacker, facilities and events senior manager, Athletics and Recreation.

Record print, email editions taking a break for Thanksgiving
The Nov. 26 University Record email will be the last one sent until Dec. 2, as the Record’s online and print editions will take a break over the Thanksgiving holiday. There will be no print edition of the Record for the week of Dec. 2. It will return Dec. 9, and that edition will be the final print edition of the fall semester. The Record’s print version will resume for the winter semester on Jan. 13, 2025. Daily email delivery will resume Dec. 2 and continue its fall schedule through Dec. 16. The Record email will then take a break for the holidays and resume for the winter semester on Jan. 8, 2025.
Washtenaw County and SPH launch Academic Health Department partnership
The Washtenaw County Health Department and the School of Public Health have announced the establishment of a formal Academic Health Department partnership. The partnership will drive innovative public health solutions through enhanced education, workforce development, and community health services. Coordinated through the school’s Office of Public Health Practice in collaboration with health department leadership and staff, this initiative bridges academic knowledge with practical applications, offering significant benefits including:
- Enhanced learning experiences — Public health students will gain valuable hands-on learning opportunities integrated with real-world public health practice.
- Workforce development and training — Health department staff will benefit from shared information and resources, enhancing their skills through collaborative efforts.
- Shared research and community health initiatives — Both organizations will participate in joint research projects and community health services, fostering innovation, improving public health outcomes, and maximizing resources.
